1. Things to Consider in Applying for a Job
many students consider applying for job very important after graduation. they think it will affect their course of lives, their circle of friends, and even their choice of spouses in the future. the following are two suggestions that you should consider when looking for a job. first, you should have an awareness of yourself, your personal interests in particular.generally speaking, your interest supplies your motivation and energy for work. if you don' t have any interest in the job, you are sure to be bored by it even if it is a highly paid one. second, you should have knowledge of the job itself. the job you are looking for should neither be beyond your reach nor should it be too easy. instead, it should bring your abilities into full play. going to work that is too difficult may only lead to frustration and failure. going to work that is too easy, however, will be a waste of your knowledge, and you will soon lose interest in it. besides, you should think of the prospect of the job. will you have a promising future if you take the job? do not be misled by the present salary it offers. think of its future development. it is important to weigh the immediate advantages against the long term prospects of the job.
at this point, it is always advisable that you turn to your parents, your teachers, and your friends for help if you cannot make the decision. they are the people who know you the best. you can also ask some job advisors for advice. they are usually experienced and can give you some valuable hints. of course, it is you who have to make the final decision.

How to Keep Fit a healthy body is very important to every one of us. when you are sick, you feel painful all over your body, have no energy to work; and the only thing you want to do is lying on the bed.
when you are healthy, you can eat well, sleep well, sing and jump happily, do all the things you like to enjoy life.the methods to keep us fit vary. in the morning, you can get up early, go outdoors, breathe the fresh air, and do physical exercises. running and swimming are extremely helpful to keep one fit. if you are a busy person and have no special time allocated to do these things, there are still some ways useful for to keep fit. the easiest way is to walk to your office instead of riding a bike or taking a bus.

3. 很多中国父母经常用给孩子零花钱的方式来激励孩子好好学习, 你赞同这种做法吗?
Pocket Money
Personally, I don’ t believe that giving children pocket money is a very good idea. In my opinion, doing so only encourages children to think that things in life are free. As humans, we only value those things that cost us something to obtain.
When I was a child, my parents never gave us any pocket money(or “allowance” as we call it in America) . They made us work to earn any money we had. They wanted us to know that money is valuable, and that hard work is even more valuable. They wanted us to learn to make wise choices with our money, and they knew we would be more careful with our money if we earned it ourselves. Finally, they wanted us to understand that work and money are related: you cannot have one without the other.
I think there are two things parents need to do to help their children understand the value of money. First, they should make their children earn their spending money, which will make the children consider the money precious. Second, they should not always stop their children from doing foolish things with their money. Making some mistakes will teach the children to be wise.
4. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Reserving a Seat. You should write at least 120 words, and base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:
1) 很多大学里“占座” 现象十分普遍
2) 这种现象会带来哪些影响
3) 你对此的看法
Reserving a Seat
We often see there is a table cloth, a book or something else on the desk in the classroom or library, indicating the seat is taken. This kind of phenomenon is very usual in almost all colleges and universities. Strangely enough, most of students seem to take this for granted, and few will protest it.
Though most of students’ taking seats in advance is for better study, this kind of phenomenon has great negative effects. On the one hand, it is a selfish behavior, which damages other students’ interests. Sometimes even if many students come to the classroom very early, they can not find a seat. On the other hand, reserving a seat violates the rule of fairness. No matter how late you come to class, the seat is still reserved for you even though many others are eager for that seat.
Considering the above-mentioned, I think, it is high time that we college students took a good look of our behavior. Indeed, only if all of us can improve our consciousness, it is not a difficult task for us to get rid of this kind of phenomenon “reserving a seat” .

Effects of Financial Crisis on College Students Since the financial crisis swept the world, the global economy has sunk into a severe recession. It' s hard to get through a day without hearing or reading news about the devastating effects of the crisis: A world of companies go bankrupt, millions of employees are laid off, high-return investment bubbles burst, and huge sums of loans can never be retrieved. Its impact on our daily life can be felt in all walks of life.
College students inevitably fall victim to this pervasive slump as well. On top of that, internships and job vacancies are reduced to the minimum as companies keep shrinking. New graduates find themselves hard to get a job, not to speak of a satisfactory one. What comes next? Poor students will be hard-pressed if they find student loans unavailable any more.As a result, some even cannot afford to continue their studies.
Lastly, more students are probably out there anxiously looking for part-time jobs now that they have to help cover their expenses in this gloomy economy. Their innocence and eagerness might be taken advantage of by some malicious businesspeople, or even criminal gang.
In response to these threats, we students must act promptly and wisely. Since we definitely will be facing a competitive job market, it' s crucial that we submit high quality resumes. Therefore, we must commit more to our professional studies.
Even do better, master more relevant job skills as a double security. Furthermore, apply for scholarships and grants, as these are still available and we don' t have to pay them back.
As for the safety issues, trust our instinct - there' s no free lunch in this world. Anything that promises quick returns without much work is a sure trap. Stay alert and protect ourselves.

Every individual faces the problem of choosing an occupation after graduating from university, which is of great importance in one’ s whole life. An appropriate occupation makes a man work with vigor and zest. Besides, it is beneficial for both the individual and the country。
To make an advisable choice, a graduate should take into account at least two aspects, namely, individual’ interest and the demand of the society. Only when the two aspects are connected, can a man show his ability and talent to the best advantage. If the two factors conflict, the former, in most cases, should give way to the latter, for it is interests that stimulate one’ s vigor and potentials。
In regard to my choice in the future, I want to work as an interpreter. I am keen on learning foreign languages, English in particular. Moreover, in the contemporary society, international exchange in economy and culture has been growing significantly. However, competent interpreters are far from enough. So I am determined to be a qualified interpreter。

Fire Prevention on Campus
People are alarmed by the succession of campus fires in recent years. In each of these accidents, heavy casualties were reported - houses were burned down, students lost their lives, and properties were damaged. Faced with such a chilling fact, people keep asking, "What on earth results in these repeated tragedies?"
A brief survey of them reveals that human factors still prove to be the leading causes. For example, three of these fires were caused by the students' use of electric water-heaters. As students often leave the heaters unattended, the risks are rather high should the water in the bottle boil dry while no one is around to turn off the power. In other cases, fires were also caused by stoves, candles, cigarette butts, etc.
Since most of these disasters could have been prevented if proper precautions had been taken, students should be better educated on the importance and measures of fire control. The following three reminders are of particular importance for us students: First, learn how to use a fire extinguisher. Second, double-check candles, heaters, stoves and other electric appliances, and make sure there are no open flames before leaving rooms. Lastly, do not smoke in the dorm.

In recent years, the volunteering spirit has spread among the Chinese people, especially among youngsters. According to a survey, in 2008, there were about 1, 700, 000 volunteers who offered service for Olympic Games. Actually, an increasing number of people become volunteers every year in China。
Volunteering actions are of tremendous benefits to both those in need and the society. Olympic Games are a good example.
As is known to all, volunteers played an active role in Beijing Olympic Games. Without them, it would be a tough task to hold this un-precedent Olympic Games. Therefore, we can say that it was those volunteers who ensured the success of these games。
As modern college students, we should get actively involved in volunteering activities. So, we should take this chance to learn and to grow.

You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below:
1. 有些人愿意和父母居住在一起
2. 有些人想自己居住
3. 我的看法
Some people enjoy living together with their parents after they have grown up. They hold the opinion because, living with parents, they can take better care of their parents and vice versa. Meanwhile, they can turn to their parents for help if they get into trouble or have some difficulties. To them, life in a big family seems to be more enjoyable than that in a small family.
Others, however, prefer to live separately. They cherish the idea to be independent of their parents, seek more freedom and wish to have a place of their own, in which they can do what they like. Bedsides, they don' t want to be overprotected by their parents but long for chance to face the society by themselves.
As to me, I like an independent life style in spite of the fact I love my parents. Different generations have different life styles and values. What one generations likes may not be another generation' s fondness. Living separately, eachgeneration can enjoy different value. In addition, by leading an independent life, I can train my character and develop my own ability to deal with things encountered in my life.
10. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a Composition entitled The Prevalence of Western Holidays. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below in Chinese:
1. 我国某些传统节日受到冷遇, 而西方节日却日益升温;
2. 形成这种现象的原因;
3. 你对这种现象的看法。
The Prevalence of Western Holidays
Many young people in China today prefer Western holidays to traditional Chinese festivals. Christmas is now celebrated by the younger generation all over China, and it has become especially popular as a romantic holiday for boyfriends and girlfriends or young married couples. Valentine' s Day is also extremely popular, and even Halloween is being celebrated now.
This phenomenon has actually developed quite naturally in recent decades due to our educational system' s focus on English study and therefore on English-speaking cultures. To many students, Western culture has become a symbol of self-expression and freedom from restraint. Celebrating Western holidays has become a way for students to express their love of something different from traditional Chinese culture, and to have fun together with their own generation.
In my opinion, it' s fine for students learning English and studying English-speaking cultures to celebrate Western holidays with their teachers and classmates. However, the way I see it, unless the young people later go abroad to live in those cultures, there is no reason for them to continue to celebrate them. We Chinese should hold on to our traditional festivals, the festivals which we have celebrated for centuries
